Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Anything you type into one of the search boxes on this site, such as a name or a date of birth, is passed straight to the third-party company that operates the search tool. That company handles the input and returns the results. The terms you enter are not logged or stored on our side.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we hold onto the message so we can answer it. Your note stays inside our team, and we share it outside the organization only when a legal obligation requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page here loads, our servers record a few technical details about the visit:
- Which pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The IP address your device was assigned
- Your device type and operating system
- The browser you used and its version
- A timestamp for every page view
- The site or link that brought you here, when one did
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files your device stores so we can see how visitors move through the pages. They show us which pages draw the most traffic and where readers tend to leave. Analytics providers help us combine that traffic into aggregate reports. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some parts of the site may behave differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
Some information is collected so the site keeps working. The list below describes what that information is used for.
- Routing your search requests to the right partner service
- Keeping the site online, fast, and loading properly
- Finding and repairing technical problems
- Showing advertising that may match your interests
- Learning which pages readers find useful and which need another look
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell any database of warrants or of personal warrant records. What we publish is general guidance about where Kandiyohi County warrant records are kept and how a reader checks them, through the Sheriff's Office records desk, the county Active Warrant Listing, Minnesota Court Records Online, and the District Court that issues the case process. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we collect about visitors is assembled into consumer reports or into records about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes here are operated by outside companies. Whatever you enter into one of those tools is handled under that company's own privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners decide how long they keep data and who they share it with, and those choices are outside our control. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages here link out to Sheriff's Office pages, District Court and Minnesota Court Records Online routes, the Minnesota Court Payment Center, legal-aid and self-help resources, and third-party search tools. Following one of those links takes you off this site, and the destination's privacy policy then governs your visit. Read it before you share personal details.
Some advertising partners track activity across websites in order to show targeted ads. That tracking happens on their systems and not on ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A limited set of parties may still receive information:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance for us
- Search partners that process the queries you run here
- Ad networks that serve advertising on these pages
- Government bodies or law enforcement when a valid legal order compels disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices to protect the data we collect. No internet-connected system is ever fully safe, though. We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us data, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Minnesota's records framework, the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13, governs the warrant and case records held by the Sheriff's Office and the District Court, and it is the law to cite when you request official records from them. Depending on where you live, other law may also give you rights over data about you. With respect to this site, you can at a minimum:
- Request a copy of what we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
- Ask us to delete your data
